Kazan, Russia: Denmark – the European badminton powerhouse, made all of the finals of badminton’s European Championships in Kazan, Russia on Sunday.Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen beat Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl in the mixed double finals.

The top seed Jan Ø Jorgensen of Denmark was able to live up to his expectation in men’s singles by beating fifth-seeded Rajiv Ouseph of England 21-18, 21-10 in just 33 minutes to take the gold. Ouseph, who won a European bronze four years ago, reeled off nine points in a row to lead 13-8 in the first game. However Jorgensen hit back to win it in 16 minutes and dominated thereafter.

The Danish pair, Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen won 22-24, 21-13, 21-18 over their compatriots Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl in the mixed doubles. Prior to the mixed doubles game, Pedersen and Juhl teamed up to beat compatriots Line Damkjær Kruse and Marie Røpke in the women’s doubles 21-11, 21-11.

In the women’s singles, top seed Carolina Marin from Spain defeated unseeded Anna Thea Madsen fell 9-21, 21-14, 8-21 of Denmark.

Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding of Denmark lost 13-21, 16-21 to the Russian pair Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov in the men’s double final.
