New Delhi: Due to the busy international schedule, the Badminton Association of India is considering postponing the Indian Badminton League II to early 2015.
The first Indian Badminton League in August 2013 was huge commercial success and a grand success with badminton lovers. The corporate sponsorships and even the players like to play in the league.
But scheduling has been a problem this year with major international events like the Commonwealth Games in July and Asian Games in September which is coinciding with the league’s original schedule from September 30-October 15, 2014. Some top shuttlers may choose to skip IBL due to their schedule conflict.
“The first IBL was a grand success, players and badminton fans are eagerly waiting for the second season. That’s why we want to ensure that all the top players are available for the second IBL, and that looks difficult this year due to the busy international schedule,” said BAI vice president T.P.S. Puri. “Though a final call is yet to be taken, we are considering the option of holding the tournament early next year.” added T.P.S. Puri.
