Ramdan will play in the Thomas Cup Finals selection trial on Friday.

Misbun Ramdan Misbun had asked for a two-day grace period for the Thomas Cup Finals selection trial  as he had just arrived from Romania on Tuesday night after winning his first international title this year – at the Romanian International on Sunday. It was his fifth international crown since leaving BAM to become an independent player in January last year.Ramdan will play in the Thomas Cup Finals selection trial on Friday.

Three men’s singles players took part in Wednesday’s trial –Goh Soon Huat and independent shuttlers Mohd Arif Abdul Latif and Tan Chun Seang. Arif lost to Soon Huat 14-21, 21-23. He then withdrew from the trial. Soon Huat is going to play against Chun Seng on Thursday and Ramdan on Friday.

In the men’s doubles, professionals Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif teamed up with back-up shuttler Tan An Khang but lost to Chooi Kah Ming-Teo Ee Yi  20-22, 18-21. Other doubles took part in the selection trial were Nelson Heg Wei Keat-Low Juan Shen and Chan Peng Soon-Ow Yao Han. Pairs that already made it for the finals are Tan Wee Kiong-Hoon Thien How, Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem and Tan Boon Heong.

In another men’s doubles match on Wednesday, Peng Soon-Yao Han defeated Wei Keat-Juan Shen 21-15, 20-22, 21-7.

Koo Kien Keat was invited for the trial but skipped the trial due to his commitment with Granular Club in Thailand. Ng Hui Lin and Ng Hui Ern also skipped the women’s doubles Uber Cup Finals selection trial because of their studies in England.
