Kuala Lumpur: Former Olympic silver medalist Goh Liu Ying and her husband welcomed their first child, on August 31, 2023, which also happens to be Malaysia’s Independence Day.
The 34-year-old Goh announced the happy news on her social media, where she shared a photo of the baby sleeping with the Malaysia flag wrapped around the baby crib.
“Welcome to the new world, my Merdeka baby🇲🇾👶🏻 ‘Saya Anak Malaysia🇲🇾❤️'” Goh wrote.
Goh’s fans and followers were quick to congratulate her on the arrival of her new bundle of joy.
“Wow, Congratulations!” one fan wrote. “Welcome to Motherhood.”
“Wao.. Malaysia baby.” another fan commented. ” Congratulations!”
Goh and her husband announced their engagement in April of this year.
Goh is a former world number one badminton player. She won a silver medal in the mixed doubles event at the 2016 Olympics with her partner Chan Peng Soon.
She is considered one of Malaysia’s most successful badminton players of all time.
