In an electrifying final, South Korea’s No. 2 seed An Se Young put on an impressive display on home turf, defeating Chinese Taipei’s No. 4 seed Tai Tzu Ying in straight games to secure her second consecutive Korea Open championship. An Se Young triumphed with 21-9, 21-15, becoming only the third women’s singles player to successfully defend the title after Bang Soo-Hyun (1993, 1994) and Camilla Martin (2000, 2001).

An Se Young’s exceptional form this year has been undeniable, with victories at the India Open, Indonesia Masters, All England, Thailand Open, and Singapore Open. Her outstanding performance at the Korea Open Super 500 marks her sixth title in 2023.

Meanwhile, the China badminton team was the biggest winner at the Korea Open, securing victories in the women’s doubles and mixed doubles categories.

The women’s doubles final saw China’s world No. 1 and top seeds, Jia Yifan/Chen Qingchen, overpowering South Korea’s 2019 champions Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong with a thrilling 21-10, 17-21, 21-7, reclaiming the women’s doubles title for China after a six-year gap.

It was Jia/Chen’s third title this year, adding to their previous successes at the Malaysia Open and Singapore Open.

In the mixed doubles final, China’s No. 4 seeds Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping displayed their dominance, defeating teammates Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin with a convincing 21-16, 21-13.
