Taipei: World No.3 and three-time All England women’s singles champion (2017, 2018, 2020), Tai Tzu Ying has been practicing with no pressure in advance of the 2023 All England (a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event) which will take place at Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, England, from March 14 to March 19, 2023.

No question, Tai is an accomplished badminton player already so much so that if she wins another All-England title, she’ll be the most successful women’s singles player at the All-England Championships in the 21st century. She is currently tied with China’s former World No. 1 Xie Xingfang (2005, 2006, 2007) for three All-England titles, the most win of any women’s singles player in the 21st century.

Tai Tzu Ying was seeded third and will face World No. 21 Kim Ga Eun in the first round. If she advances to the round of 16, she will either meet Japan’s World No. 33 Aya Ohori or Thailand’s World No. 12 Busanan Ongbamrungphan. She might need to battle He Bingjiao or PV Sindhu in the quarter-finals before taking on either Carolina Marin or An Se Young in the semi-finals.

Tai posted a message on her personal Instagram account saying: “Playing happily, counting down to go abroad ~ always cheer for myself.”

For the record, Judy Devlin of the USA and Meriel Lucas of England were the two most successful female players in All England history. Devlin won a total of 10 women’s singles, and 7 women’s doubles titles (from 1954 to 1967) while Lucas won a total of 6 women’s singles, 10 women’s doubles, and 1 mixed doubles titles (from 1899 to 1910).
