Jakarta: Indonesia’s men’s singles World No. 3 – Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was motivated and ready to lead the Indonesian team at the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC) which will take place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in the United Arab Emirates from February 14 to February 19, 2023.
In addition to Ginting, Indonesia also featured World No. 18 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo in the men’s singles event.
Both Ginting and Wardoyo were excited about the opportunity to compete at the BAMTC and were ready to give their all to make sure that Indonesia retains good results in Dubai.
“After playing at the Indonesia Masters in January, I have already started preparing for the BAMTC. I am in good condition and ready to fight,” said Ginting.
Ginting lost to Shi Yuqi of China 21-19, 21-16 in the second round of the 2023 Indonesia Masters.
Meanwhile, Wardoyo was also determined to give his best for the Indonesia squad.
“I’m in good condition, fit and injury free,” said Wardoyo.
Wardoyo got off to a strong start in 2023 when he advanced to the final of the Indonesia Masters before losing to compatriot and World No. 2 Jonatan Christie 15-21, 13-21 in the final.
Indonesia was drawn into Group C alongside Thailand, Bahrain, Suriah, and Lebanon at the 2023 BAMTC. In the previous edition, Indonesia defeated Hong Kong 3-2 for the bronze medal.
The Indonesian team already departed for Dubai on Saturday.
