Bangkok: The left-handed World No. 35 Lin Chun Yi of Taiwan defeated World No. 18 Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong 21-17, 21-14 in the Thailand Masters final on Sunday. It was also the second BWF Super 300 title of his career.

The 23-year-old Lin didn’t produce any impact at international tournaments since winning the 2019 US Open as he sustained several injuries and didn’t get too many chances to play internationally due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ng, on the other hand, failed to defend the Thailand Masters title he won in 2020 after the tournament was canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Chinese badminton team produced brilliant results on Sunday by claiming both the women’s singles and mixed doubles titles.

In an all-Chinese women’s singles final, World No. 18 Zhang Yi Man narrowly beat World No. 11 Han Yue 15-21, 21-13, 21-18. This was Zhang’s first Super 300 title.

Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping who had only been paired up since October of 2022 and had only been competing in 6 tournaments, picked up their second consecutive title in two weeks by beating Seo Seung Jae/Chae Yu Jung of Korea 18-21, 21-15, 21-12 in the mixed doubles final on Sunday. Feng/Huang also emerged as the Indonesia Masters champions last Sunday.

After winning last week’s Indonesia Masters men’s doubles gold, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin of Indonesia continued their strong momentum to beat Su Ching Heng/Ye Hong Wei of Taiwan 21-16, 21-17 for the Thailand Masters title.

The second-seeded from Thailand – Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard managed to keep at least one title at home by beating Baek Ha Na/Lee So Hee of Korea 21-6, 21-11 to win the women’s doubles title.
