Kuala Lumpur: Goh Liu Ying will play the final tournament of her career partnering with Chan Peng Soon at the 2023 Malaysia Open on Wednesday.

The pair who won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, will make their last appearance as a pair before Goh hangs up her racket.

Speaking to Malaysian media, both admitted losing or winning is not important for them at this year’s Malaysia Open.

“The fans in Malaysia are really crazy about badminton, so I want to feel that atmosphere when I enter the badminton court. I might be emotional after the match but I want to enjoy the match as much as possible for now,” said Goh.

“The 2008 Malaysian Open was our first tournament together as a pair, and this time, it’s going to be the last tournament for me and Peng Soon. That’s why I think it means a lot to both of us,” added Goh.

Goh/Chan will open their Malaysia Open campaign against Indonesian pair, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

Meanwhile, Chan said even if they have not been playing together for one year, there was no problem for them to find chemistry when getting back together as a pair and he promised to play their best for the fans.
