Ipoh: After winning the Croatian Open and Bonn International in Germany in June, Malaysia’s 18-year-old Justin Hoh picked up his third title at the senior level by bagging the 2022 Malaysia International Challenge on Sunday.
Hoh beat his senior – Aidil Sholeh 18-21, 21-16, 21-17 in 74 minutes for the men’s singles title.
The men’s doubles final saw Muhammad Haikal/Nur Izzuddin clinched their maiden title as a pair when they saw off teammates Goh Boon Zhe/Goh Sze Fei 21-17, 21-16 in 32 minutes.
In the women’s singles competition, Indonesia’s Yulia Yosephine Susanto came back from 14-18 down in the second set to beat Karupathevan Letshanaa of Malaysia 21-16, 21-19 for the women’s title.
Singapore’s women’s doubles No. 1 seeds Yujia Jin/Wong Jia Ying Crystal lived up to their billing by defeating Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn/Atitaya Povanon of Thailand 21-12, 21-15 in the final.
Meanwhile, the dream of last week’s Bangladesh International Challenge mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei to add another trophy to their collection was shattered, after losing to compatriots Hoo Pang Ron/Teoh Mei Xing 21-18, 15-21, 19-21.
