Bangkok: After losing to He Bingjiao in the opening match on Wednesday, Tai Tzu Ying treated the Bangkok crowd to a brilliant match at the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals as she battled it out for 44 minutes to beat Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand 22-20, 21-16.
Tai will now face Ratchanok Intanon on Friday to decide who qualifies for the semi-finals. He Bing Jiao who won two matches so far has already made the knockout stage.

In women’s singles Group A, all four players (An Se Young, Chen Yu Fei, Akane Yamaguchi, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung) have a chance to make the next round as all of them has each won 1 and lost 1 match. The two winners from Group A on Friday would make the next round.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair – Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing, who shocked the Tokyo Olympic champions – Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dongping in the opening action on Wednesday, failed to maintain their momentum when they lost to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand 9-21, 11-21 in their second Group B match.
They would need to win over another Thai pair, Supak Jomkoh/Supissara Paewsampran to keep their chance of making the semi-finals.
However, another Malaysian mixed doubles pair, Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai suffered their second defeat in the Group A competition when they succumbed to the European champions from France, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue 21-16, 18-21, 17 -21.
In the women’s doubles competition, both Vivian Hoo/Lim Chiew Sin and Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan failed to pass the group stage when they lost their respective second group match on Thursday.
