Bahrain: Malaysia’s 22-year-old Ng Tze Yong ended his title drought this season on Sunday by capturing the 2022 Bahrain International Challenge title.
After dropping the second set to Chinese Taipei’s 2022 World Junior Champion, Kuo Kuan-Lin, the World No. 27 Ng came to life in the third set to notch the title with a 21-15, 20-22, 21-12 win.

In men’s doubles, after beating No. 1 seeds Krishna Prasad Garaga/Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala of India 21-16, 16-21, 21-15 in the semi-final, the unseeded Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah/Rahmat Hidayat of Indonesia carried their momentum into the final to outlast No. 2 seeds Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn/Nanthakarn Yordphaisong of Thailand 21-13, 21-17 in the final.
The women’s singles competition saw Thailand’s 15-year-old Pitchamon Opatniputh remained unstoppable as the World No. 120 youngster saw off World No. 119 Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia 21-17, 21-16 for the women’s title.
Ruttanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat brought home the second title of the day for the Thailand team when they overcame Reddy B. Sumeeth/Maneesha K of India in the mixed doubles final 22-20, 21-17.
Meanwhile, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto made up for the disappointment of the Indonesia team in the women’s singles event by upsetting women’s doubles No. 1 seeds Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-18, 21-16 to clinch the Bahrain International Challenge title.
