Malang: Malaysia’s World No. 101 Leong Jun Hao came back from dropping the first game to see off compatriot World No. 65 Cheam June Wei 9-21, 22-20, 21-19 in the 2022 Indonesia Masters final. This was Leong’s first title at the BWF World Tour level and his first international title in four and a half years.

Leong last won an international title at the 2018 Finnish Open, also defeated Cheam Jun Wei but with the score of 12–21, 21–17, and 22–20.

Meanwhile, Cheam failed to add another trophy under his belt since winning the 2019 Malaysia International.

In the men’s doubles final, the No. 5 seeds Rahmat Hidayat/Pramudya Kusumawardana pulled off a surprise to upset No. 1 seeds He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong 21-18, 21-19.

The women’s singles final was a rematch of last week’s Indonesia International Challenge final where China’s Gao Fangjie was facing off against Riko Gunji of Japan and the result remained the same where Gao defeated Gunji for the second time in two weeks with a score of 21-10, 21-12.

Japan’s women’s doubles No. 1 seeds Rui Hirokami/Yuna Kato lived up to their billing to down teammates and No. 5 seeds Rena Miyaura/Ayako Sakuramoto 23-21, 21-18 for the women’s doubles crown.

In an all-Chinese mixed doubles final, Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin beat Cheng Xing/Chen Fang Hui in straight-sets 21-12, 21-15 for the Indonesia Masters title.
