Singapore: Wax figure of Lee Chong Wei, one of the biggest stars in the history of badminton, was unveiled at the Singapore museum on Thursday.

Lee’s wax figure will be on display at the Singapore museum at Sentosa’s Imbiah Lookout and will be relocated to Madame Tussauds museum in Hong Kong in the first quarter of next year permanently.

The wax figure of the former world number one was shown in a blue sleeveless jersey and shorts and a pair of blue and lime green shoes with a racket in one hand.

The jersey was the same jersey Lee wore during the 2016 Rio Olympics which saw him win his third and final silver medal on the world’s biggest stage.

“I am so excited to finally be able to reveal my wax figure to fans from all over the world. The team at Madame Tussauds has been working hard to make this happen,” said Lee at the press conference.

“The team was very detail oriented at ‘re-creating’ me, and I am really honored and appreciate this opportunity,” added Lee.

Back in November 2019, the Madame Tussauds team spent a six-hour “sitting” time to gather Lee’s measurements needed to create that wax figure.

Lee is also the first Malaysian athlete to have a wax figure by Madame Tussauds alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.
