Tokyo: Malaysia’s World No. 42 Ng Tze Yong admitted that he has nothing to regret after his 2022 World Championships second-round loss to World No. 33 Sitthikom Thammasin of Thailand on Tuesday.
Ng said he has given the best performance before succumbing to Thammasin.
In the action that took place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Ng was trailing 5-14 in the decider and managed to level the score at 19-19 before losing to Thammasin 9-21, 21-10, 19-21.
“Thammasin is an experienced player and controlled the game better than me. I think after this I need to improve my fitness level and stamina,” said Ng.
“I think I have nothing to regret because I believe I gave my best performance. I am going to focus on preparing for the next tournament,” added Ng.
Meanwhile, Thammasin praised the performance shown by Ng as he described Ng as an opponent who was difficult to beat and did not give up easily.
“I’m happy with this win but it wasn’t an easy match. Tze Yong put up a tough fight,” said Thammasin who will meet world number one from Denmark, Viktor Axelsen in the third round.
