Singapore: India’s 2019 women’s singles World Champion – PV Sindhu only reached three finals so far this year (2022 Syed Modi India International, 2022 Swiss Open, and 2022 Singapore Open), and she remained unbeatable in all three finals.

Both World No. 7 Sindhu and World No. 11 Wang Zhiyi of China committed a lot of mistakes in the Singapore Open title clash on Sunday. The difference was Sindhu managed to limit her errors in the critical moment to eventually beat World No. 11 Wang Zhiyi of China 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 to pick up her first Singapore Open title.

The title run should act as a big boost for Sindhu, who will be leading India’s charge at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK, from Jul 28, 2022, to Aug 8, 2022.

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles final saw a showdown between the World champions – World No. 2 Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand and the Olympic champions – World No. 4 Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping of China.

Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai needed 37 minutes to beat Wang/Huang 21-12, 21-17, and to claim their second title of 2022. Their first title of the year was the German Open Super 300 in March.
