The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Chen Yufei comfortably beat Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi 21-12, 21-11 to give her team a 1-0 lead before Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan won the first women’s doubles match 21-19, 21-16 against Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi to put China on a 2-0 unassailable lead.
China’s World No. 9 He Bing Jiao, however, was given strong resistance by World No. 333 Bilqis Prasista before beating Prasista 19-21, 21-18, 21-7 thus clinching the victory for China with an overall score of 3-0.
In another Uber Cup quarter-final tie between Thailand and India, the hosts managed to overcome India 3-0.
Thailand’s World No. 8 Ratchanok Intanon fought hard for three games as she outlasted World No. 7 PV Sindhu 18-21, 21-17, 21-12 in the first women’s singles match.
The World No. 8 women’s doubles pair – Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai never looked in serious trouble by getting past Shruti Mishra/Simran Singhi of India 21-16, 21-13 to give Thailand a 2-0 lead.
The World No. 10 Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand then smashed down Aakarshi Kashyap 21-16, 21-11 to score the third point for Thailand.
Meanwhile, Japan will play Korea in another Uber Cup semi-final on Friday.
