Jakarta: The Head of Development and Achievement for the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) – Rionny Mainaky said that the Indonesian badminton team is committed to giving its optimal performance at the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) which will be held from April 26 to May 1 in Manila.
“We would evaluate our players’ readiness for Thomas-Uber Cup Finals and the SEA Games through the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships,” said Mainaky.
In addition to being a warm-up tournament ahead of the Thomas-Uber Cup Finals and the SEA Games, Mainaky saw BAC as an important competition for players to seize as many ranking points as possible, as it offers rankings points equivalent to the BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.
“The condition of our shuttlers are all healthy and in high spirits. Of course, our first-tier players are aiming to win in Manila, while our backup players would use this to gain more experience and to earn as many points as possible,” explained Mainaky.
A total of 20 men’s and women’s Indonesian badminton players had left for Manila Saturday morning.
