Kuala Lumpur: Li Ning – the badminton equipment manufacturer from China has agreed to extend its partnership with Goh Liu Ying, Ong Yew Sin, and Teo Ee Yi for another two years.
According to Malaysia’s Sinchew, their coach – Chin Eei Hui, also received the contract extension until 2024.
After Goh Liu Ying and her mixed doubles partner of 13 years, Chan Peng Soon, decided to part away at the end of 2021, Goh has chosen Ong Yew Sin as her new mixed doubles partner and they are aiming for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Goh who won the Rio Olympics silver medal with Chan Peng Soon said she would try her best to qualify for the 2024 Paris Games.
“Li Ning has been supporting me since I became a professional player. I would like to thank Li Ning for their continuous support and I will do my best to repay their trust,” said Goh.
Meanwhile, the 2021 World Championships men’s doubles bronze medalist – Ong Yew Sin said he hoped to qualify for both men’s singles and men’s doubles in the Olympics.
“If I can keep performing well and achieved good results in both men’s and mixed doubles, I hope to win two tickets to Paris,” said Ong.
“However, my main focus is still in men’s doubles. The partnership with Liu Ying is currently in the experimental stage,” added Ong.
Ong’s men’s doubles partner – Teo Ee Yi also expressed his gratitude to Li Ning and hoped to win an Olympic medal in return.
“We have no sponsor when we left BAM. Thanks to the support and help from Li Ning, so that we could continue our career and successfully won a medal at the 2021 World Championships,” said Teo.
Goh, Ong, and Teo will be leaving for Europe this week to participate in the German Open (March 8 to March 13), All England (March 16 to March 20), and the Swiss Open (March 22 to March 27).
