Muelheim: The World No. 1 women’s singles player – Tai Tzu Ying continued to extend her record for most weeks at World No. 1 after Badminton World Federation (BWF) published the latest rankings on Tuesday. She has now spent a total of 205 weeks in the top spot of BWF rankings.
The Taiwanese player posted on her social media Thursday that she has arrived in Germany to participate at the BWF Super 300 German Open which will be held in Muelheim from March 8 to March 13.

The last time Tai played the German Open was at the 2014 edtion. She lost to Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand 16-21, 12-21 in the first round.
This time, big names in women’s singles such as the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist – Chen Yufei of China, the reigning World Champion – Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, World No. 7 PV Sindhu of India, and World No. 8 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand will all be playing in Muelheim.
Tai was seed top and will open against Iris Wang from the USA.
After German Open, all players above will be traveling to Birmingham, UK to take part at the All England Super 1000 event on March 16, and Tai is seeking her fourth All England title in this year’s edition.
