Kuala Lumpur: The Indonesian men’s and women’s teams have arrived in Malaysia on Monday night to take part in the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC). That men’s and women’s team event be held at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam, Malaysia from February 15 to February 20, 2022.
As part of the COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols, the Indonesian players have to stay quarantined for five days, before they can start their training on February 12.
Indonesia’s fitness coach, Yansen Alpine, said that currently all players are unable to leave their rooms at the Sunway Clio Hotel, and he has asked the Indonesian players to do light exercise in order to maintain their physical condition.
During the quarantine period, all team members were not allowed to make physical contact with each other. The coaches have to send videos of light exercises using WhatsApp.
“The training activities are aiming to relax their muscles after they have traveled from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur and have to go through several rounds of health and safety protocol,” said Alpine.
The video below showed Indonesia’s women’s singles player Stephanie Widjaja kept her spirit up by doing some stretching and running inside her hotel room.

The Indonesian men’s team was drawn into Group A with South Korea, Hong Kong, and India, while the women’s team was grouped together with South Korea, Hong Kong, and Kazakhstan in Group Z.
