Kuala Lumpur: Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei have won their appeals against the decision from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to ban them from competing at international tournaments for two years.
Both Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei met with Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at Perdana Putra Thursday afternoon alongside the president of BAM Norza Zakaria and team manager of Kuala Lumpur Racquet Club (KLRC)- Sairol Amar Ayob.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia posted the message below on his social media after the meeting:
“A fruitful discussion. Alhamdulillah, everything has been resolved. My message to Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei, compete not only for yourself but compete for the people and the country so that Malaysian badminton can continue to excel internationally.”
Shortly after that meeting, BAM also posted an official announcement on its social media pages that both Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei are eligible to register for international tournaments effective immediately.
