Ng Tze Yong, Siti Nurshuhaini Reach 2021 Czech Open Finals

Brno: Malaysia’s men’s singles World No. 82 Ng Tze Yong moved one step closer to winning his second title of the year with wins over Krishna Adi Nugraha of Indonesia in the quarter-finals (21-9, 21-18) and Jason Teh Jia Heng of Singapore (21-15, 21-14) in the semi-finals of the 2021 Czech Open on Saturday.

Ng won the 2021 Polish Open on March 28, 2021, by defeating Pablo Abian 21–19, 21–11.

In the women’s singles event, World No. 354 Siti Nurshuhaini of Malaysia defeated teammate Karupathevan Letshanaa 21-16, 16-21, 21-6 in the quarter-finals, before seeing off Ananya Praveen of India 21-9, 21-10 to set up a final encounter with World No. 124 Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia for the Czech Open title.

Meanwhile, Singapore’s Terry Hee Yong Kai/Loh Kean Hean who overcame Malaysia’s Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong 21-14, 18-21, 22-20 in the Dutch Open men’s doubles final last week, cruised into their second consecutive final in two weeks by beating Chia Weijie/Low Hang Yee of Malaysia 21-16, 21-19 in the Czech Open semi-finals. Hee/Loh will face another Malaysian pair, Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Terry Hee Yong Kai also made the mixed doubles final together with Tan Wei Han. The Singaporean pair will play Lev Barinov/Anastasiia Boiarun of Russia in the mixed doubles final.

In addition to the men’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s singles finals, Malaysia also has representatives in the women’s doubles final. Anna Ching Yik Cheong/Teoh Mei Xing overpowered Anastasiia Boiarun/Alena Iakovleva of Russia 21-19, 21-8 in the semi-finals to meet Indonesians Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani/Jesita Putri Miantoro next.
