Aarhus: The Coaching Director of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Wong Choong Hann was confident that the Malaysian Uber Cup team could go far at the 2020 Uber Cup finals.
Speaking to Malaysian media, Wong said that with the addition of several young players, Malaysia’s Uber Cup squad is ready to face the hosts – Denmark, on Saturday.
“Denmark is one of the strongest teams in Europe. We hope the players can be prepared and give their best,” said Wong.
“I am optimistic that our players have the high fighting spirit. For me and the coaching staff, we were satisfied with how they played at the Sudirman Cup, and we would like the players to show that type of resilience when meeting any opponent,” added Wong.
“We have started to see these young players really wanted to do well, and we hope they could continue playing with high spirit in the future as this is a very important team culture,” explained Wong.
“We want our players to perk up and believe more in themselves. This would have a positive impact on them.”
“We want to take the game one by one. We are currently focusing on Denmark first before thinking about China.”
“However, to be honest, we are not strong enough to beat China.”
