Kuala Lumpur: Are World No. 11 men’s singles Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan and World No. 30 HS Prannoy of India contemplating a career change?

Of course no. Taiwan’s World No. 11 men’s singles player, Wang Tzu Wei recently ended his quarantine period in Taipei after returning from Tokyo Olympics, posted a picture of him with tennis legend and current World No. 1, Novak Djokovic of Serbia on Instagram.

Wang also shared the following message alongside the picture:
“I took a selfie with World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic in Olympic village. He is one of my favorite athletes. It’s great to meet him!

After the Olympics, I finally have a short vacation to spend some time with my family, miss them so much! I will return to the National training center in September to strive for the following badminton tournaments.

Thanks for your support, I will come back stronger!”

The 26-year-old Wang made his Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games. He lost to the eventual gold medalist, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the round of 16, with a score of 16-21, 14-21. He was disappointed with the loss, but he vowed to come back stronger in his next tournament.

As for HS Prannoy, he was mainly expressing his frustration when the Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced the cancellation of the 2021 Chinese Taipei Open which was scheduled to take place from September 7 to September 12 in Taipei.

“This follows unexpected COVID-19 complications regarding the staging of the tournament, leaving local organisers no choice but to cancel. The BWF regrets the sudden change of direction but remains committed to delivering a safe and structured series of badminton tournaments for the rest of the year,” said BWF.

Prannoy then showed his disappointment by responding with message below on his Twitter account: “Wow beautiful. I think I better start playing tennis.”.
