Kuala Lumpur: Fresh from winning their first Swiss Open women’s doubles title, Malaysia’s Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan hoped to carry the momentum to All England which is scheduled to start in Birmingham on March 17, 2021.
The 23-year-old Muralitharan said that winning the Swiss Open, a BWF Super 300 World Tour event was definitely a sweet moment and a confidence booster.
“That was a great victory for both of us because it boosted our confidence and motivation to be better in the next tournament,” said Muralitharan to Malaysian media.
“I want to thank the coaches, the support staff of the National Sports Institute who are with us here, our teammates, and all the supporters,” added Muralitharan.
In Sunday’s Swiss Open final, the World No. 30 Tan/Muralitharan shocked third-seeded Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria 21-19, 21-12 in 42 minutes.
The success saw the Tan/Muralitharan took home a total prize money of US $11,060 (RM45,058).
Tan, also posted the message below on her Instagram account after the victory:

Meanwhile, the Malaysian women’s doubles head coach, Chan Chong Ming said that both Tan/Muralitharan have a strong desire to win, but they still need a long period of high-quality training to narrow the gap between them and strong pairs from China, Japan, and South Korea.
“I hope that our women’s doubles team can keep utilizing high-intensity and high-quality training to narrow the gap between us and the world’s top pairs,” said Chan.
