Tokyo: The first stop of the 2020 Yonex “MIX & MATCH Badminton Challenge” was held in Japan on Nov 29, 2020, with Kento Momota served as the captain of the Kansha team and Akane Yamaguchi was leading the Sixth Sense team.
Momota’s team had to overcome a strong challenge from Yamaguchi’s team in a hard-fought tussle that went down to the wire before Kansha won the tournament 3-2.
The Legends Vision MIX & MATCH was a brand new competition format that kind of like of a spinoff for the Legend’s Vision. It’s a team competition of strategy and survival. It consists of two teams, each with six players who have different skills and strength to compete over five games, 2 singles and 3 doubles.
The first team in the competition to reach 30 points in singles or 15 points in doubles would win that game. Team captains must decide when to switch their players between points to find the best match up. The winning team was the one who used the best strategy to outsmart and outplay their opponents.
