Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) publicly praised the ‘Daddies’ of badminton – Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia on its social media page describing the World No. 2 pair as always strive to give their families the best support they could.
“The quality of a dad can be seen in the badminton court 🏸 The goals, dreams and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family.”
The 36-year-old Setiawan has three children, namely Richard, Russell, and Richele.
“It’s because both of us have families, and so we were named ‘The Daddies'” said Hendra Setiawan to the Olympic channel in October 2020.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ahsan married Christine Novitania in 2013 and has been blessed with a daughter named Maritza Chayra Ahsan, and a son King Arsakha Asan.
Thanks to the support of their family, Setiawan/Ahsan are currently ranked World No. 2, behind compatriots Marcus Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya.
Both Setiawan/Ahsan achieved some enormous success in 2019 by winning the All England, the BWF World Championships, and the BWF World Tour Finals.
However, in 2020, the Indonesian pair failed to defend their All England title after being stopped in the quarterfinals by Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe of Japan. They also emerged as runners-up in the Indonesia Masters on Jan 19, 2020, losing to Kevin Sanjaya/Marcus Gideon 15-21, 16-21 in the final.
