Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian badminton legend, Lee Chong Wei was concerned about the recent surge in coronavirus infections in Malaysia as 489 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Wednesday.
The former World No. 1 took to his Facebook to advise the public to wear face masks in public and to always practice COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
“Kawan-kawan, kes semakin banyak. Ingat mesti pakai Mask bila kluar. Ikot SOP. Scan MySejahtera. Jangan sampai kena sebat!
Friends, cases are rising. Don’t be complacent. Wear your mask! Follow the SOP. Check in MySejahtera! Be afraid of the Cane!
各位,非常时期我们要遵守SOP,戴口罩勤洗手,携手度过这一波疫情,” said Lee on his Facebook post.
Lee was jokingly referred to Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s speech about the Covid-19 pandemic on Tuesday when he closed his special address by saying:
“Sorry if this ‘abah’ has started using the cane!” said Malaysia’s prime minister.
The prime minister was referring to himself by using the Malay word “abah” for “daddy”.
The 73-year-old prime minister of Malaysia was suggesting possible stricter measures that may be implemented by the Malaysian government to curb COVID-19 spread. He, along with 13 Malaysian ministers and deputy ministers, started home quarantine on Monday after it was discovered that Malaysia’s religious affairs minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri was tested positive for COVID-19.
