Chengdu: The 2014 World Junior boys singles champion Lin Guipu of Zhejiang, who has been plagued by leg and back injuries in recent years, was clearly not on the same level as Rio Olympic champion Chen Long of Xiamen, as Chen was playing with attacking style to beat Lin 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 on day five of 2020 China Badminton Super League (CBSL).
Both Xiamen and Zhejiang badminton clubs were ranked fourth and fifth respectively before the tie on Wednesday, with 2 wins and 2 losses in their first four rounds.
Xiamen’s Li Yinhui/Yan Chenxue started the tie in women’s doubles by defeating Zhejiang’s Yang Xiaole/Lin Xin 11-4, 11-3, 11-8; while Xiamen’s number one women’s single Han Yue came into the match with a lot of confidence to outlast Lin Fei 3-0 in just 22 minutes, helping Xiamen to lead 2-0. In the men’s doubles match that followed, Xiamen’s Liu Cheng/Huang Kaixiang dismantled Wang Sijie/Wang Chang 3-1, before Chen Long won the men’s singles match.
