Chengdu: Xiamen Tefang on Tuesday came back from a 0-1 down to successfully topple Shenzhen Southern University of Science and Technology 3-2 to pick up its second win in the 2020 China Badminton Super League (CBSL).
In the first match, Liu Cheng/Shang Yichen of Xiamen who also play for the China national team were unexpectedly lost to Deng Jiaqiang/Wu Tuobin of Shenzhen. In the 5 x 11 scoring format, the Shenzhen pair unleashing strong smashes to claim the first set 11-4, and third set 11-9. While Liu/Shang took the second set 11-5, and fourth set 15-14, before going down in the fifth with 8-11.
The Rio Olympic gold medalist Chen Long showed no mercy in the men’s singles match that followed, taking down Shenzhen’s Song Ransheng 11-7, 11-6, 11-4 to level the overall score at 1-1.
Xiamen’s mixed doubles pair Huang Kaixiang/Li Yinhui defeated Liang Weikeng/Zheng Xuhui of Shenzhen 3-1, before women’s singles Han Yue clinched the winning point for her team by seeing off Han Luxuan of Shenzhen 12-10, 11-5, 11-6.
The Qingdao team maintained its astounding record as its players found themselves chasing the longest unbeaten streak in the 2020 China Badminton Super League (CBSL) by overwhelming the Ruichang team 5-0.
