Chengdu: Qingdao Renzhou badminton club spearheaded by Zheng Siwei/Liu Yuchen in men’s doubles, successfully defeated Liu Yi/Di Zijian of Anhui Souyu 11-4, 11-7, 11-4, leading Qingdao to eventually sweep Anhui 5-0 on day two of the 2020 China Badminton Super League (CBSL).
The Ruichang Biyuan badminton club which also consists of an “All-Star” line-up with players such as Chen Qingchen, Li Junhui, He Bingjiao, Huang Yaqiong, was dazzled with its players’ performances to beat Shenzhen Southern University of Science and Technology 5-0 on Sunday.
Chen Qingchen was paired up with Zheng Yu, seeing off Feng Xueying/Zheng Xuhui 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 to win the opening match for Ruichang, before Li Shifeng, Li Junhui/Ren Xiangyu, He Bingjiao, and Feng Yanzhe/Huang Yaqiong emerged victorious in the men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, and mixed doubles events.
“I am happy with my performance today. With the 5 x 11 scoring format, I’ll need to be quick, decisive, and play aggressively,” said Li Shifeng.
In another tie between Xiamen Tefang and Hunan Hualai, the Rio Olympic men’s singles winner Chen Long of Xiamen defeated Zhou Zeqi of Hunan 9-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-8 before Han Yue of Xiamen outlasted Zhou Meng 3-2 in women’s singles match. Those were the only two victories for Xiamen in their 2-3 loss to Hunan.
Amid increasing concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus, all games in the 2020 CBSL are being played without fans in an empty arena.
