Kuala Lumpur: Coaching director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) believed former Asian Junior Champion Leong Jun Hao could come back stronger from the latest right hip muscle tore he picked up during the BAM Invitational Championships last week.

The 21-year-old has been plagued with injuries in the past two years as suffered a left hip in October 2018 and ankle injury in February 2019.

However, Wong was confident that given enough time to recover, Leong is poised to come back stronger.

“Jun Hao has experienced worse injuries than this, but each time, he was able to emerge from injury strong. His previous hip injury even doubted if he could ever play badminton again,” said Wong.

“He has a very strong fighting spirit, and I think these challenges will make him more mature, and he knows how to take good care of his body in the long run,” added Wong.

“Jun Hao has been pushing himself very hard in the gym, and those explosive training sessions in the gym also made him vulnerable to injuries,” explained Wong.

Wong offered reassurance that BAM would seek assistance from sports science professionals to provide Leong with support during the injury rehabilitation process.
