Kuala Lumpur: Flandi Limpele who became the new man in charge at Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) men’s doubles department, was excited to see how hard Malaysia’s men’s doubles players willing to train.
The Indonesian coach has added additional 45 minutes of training hours for World No. 9 men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, hoping to improve their physical strength and speed, and so far, the duo seemed to be adapting well in a changing training environment.
“Every coach brings his own style and unique perspectives to training and games. We are absorbing the best from different types of coaching styles and philosophies,” said Chia.
“We are required to do extra 45 minutes of physical training since Limpele’s arrival,” added Chia.
“Since we don’t have any tournaments to play, we really enjoy Limpele’s training arrangement,” continued Chia.
Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik were previously trained by Jeremy Gan during their younger days. They were paired up by Cheah Soon Kit in 2017 before Paulus Firman took over the BAM men’s doubles department in 2018. And now, Limpele is the fourth coach for the pair in the BAM senior team.
