Taipei: As all badminton tournaments have been suspended by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) until August due to the COVID-19 pandemic, World No. 1 women’s singles player Tai Tzu Ying took advantage of the time off to have a “friendly match” with her 90-year-old grandmother.
While playing at India’s Premier badminton league earlier 2020, she had told the Indian media that her grandma has always been her No. 1 fan, and also her best friend.
The video below showed Tai was hitting the shuttlecock back and forth with her grandmother at the sidewalk in front of their house.
In the video, Tai showed her grandma several simple ways of hitting the shuttlecock, and her grandma was able to pick up the new skills quickly and managed to return some beautiful badminton shots.
