Tokyo: World No. 1 men’s singles player, Kento Momota has been discharged from a Tokyo hospital on Friday, four days after he survived a catastrophic car accident in Malaysia.

The latest medical report showed that Momota didn’t sustain any other injuries other than 3 facial lacerations and bruising all over his body following the fatal accident early Monday morning that killed the driver.

Momota’s own badminton club – NTT East Japan released a statement that Momota would like to thank everyone who wished him well and would make a strong return.

“Thanks so much to the many people who offered encouragement. Although I will be recuperating, for the time being, I want to repay my debt of gratitude to those who wished me well by earnestly recovering physically and mentally, and competing in a lively fashion as soon as I can,” said Momota.

Although Momota did not provide an exact date for his return, but the Nippon Badminton Association has indicated he would next be playing at the All England Open in March.

BadmintonPlanet.com would like to wish Momota a speedy and full recovery.
