Kuala Lumpur: World No. 25 women’s singles player Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia is set to participate at Malaysia Open that will kick off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia next Tuesday as her doctors have approved her return to competition after picking up a hamstring injury three weeks ago when playing against Zhang Beiwen of USA in the quarter-finals of German Open.

The two-time World Junior champion lost to World No. 4 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the German Open semi-finals and went down to Sayaka Takahashi of Japan in the first round of All England on March 6, 2019.

The 19-year-old felt that she has been recovering well from the injury but still need time to regain her fitness.

“I am at about 80%, but I still have few more days to improve my fitness,” said Goh.

“I’m ready to play at the Malaysia Open,” added Goh who showed her determination to do well at the Malaysia Open.

“I don’t want to let my first round loss at All England to affect my performance at home.”

“Now, I am looking forward to make the home crowd excited at Malaysia Open,” said the World No. 25 player.

Another good news for Goh at the Malaysia Open is that World No. 9 player Saina Nehwal has withdrew from the tournament due to an abdominal pain. According to the original draw, Goh will open against Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand, and Saina Nehwal in the second round.

“It does not matter whether Saina will come or not.”

“It’s not going to make any difference. I still need to give the best in each round.”

In addition to Goh Jin Wei, another Malaysian women’s singles player Soniia Cheah will open the tournament against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
