Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s World No. 59 Lee Zii Jia would like to put the finishing touch to his 2018 season by achieving good results at the Korea Masters that will be held from November 27 to December 2, in Gwangju, Korea.

After almost two months of rest since winning the Taiwan Open, Lee who has also just recovered from a back injury, was hoping for a strong outing in Korea which could set himself up well for new season.

“I have fully recovered from my injury and I am ready to play again,” said Lee.

“This is my last tournament of the year. Of course I will try to do my best to produce good results in Korea but at the same time I know it’s not easy.”

“I need to focus at one match at a time,” added Lee.

Besides Lee, another Malaysian men’s singles player, Soong Joo Ven will also be playing in the same tournament.

Lee Zii Jia will start his campaign facing Taiwanese player Lin Yu Hsien while Soong Joo Ven opens against fourth seed Jonatan Christie from Indonesia.

The 20-year-old also stressed that positive results in Korea could be a confidence booster for him as he would face a more challenging 2019 season when the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifying round starts in May of next year.

“After the Korea Masters, I have about a month to train before the next tournament starts in January. Therefore, I hope I can concentrate on my training.”

“Coach Misbun has helped me a lot all this time. He has always motivated us and has strengthening our mental and physical toughness,” said Lee Zii Jia.
