China and Korea girls to meet in Badminton Asia Team Championships semis

Alor Setar: The Chinese women team will play against an Korean opponent in the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) tournament on Saturday.

China who defeated Thailand 3-1 on Friday, will play Chen Yufei as first women’s singles in the semi-finals. Even though Chen lost to Fitriani Fitriani of Indonesia 21-16, 12-21, 15-21 in the Group Z tie on Thursday, Chen made up for her loss by outlasting Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand 19-21, 21-14, 21-14 to score the first point for her team on Friday. China has vested confidence and has delegated Chen the responsibility to face Sung Ji Hyun of Korea on Saturday after her victory against Jindapol.

In the quarter-final tie against Thailand, Dong Wenjing/Feng Xueying scored the second point for China by beating Chayanit Chaladchalam/Phataimas Muenwong 21-16, 23-21 in 51 minutes. The Chinese pair will take on Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan of Korea in the semi-finals.

He Bingjiao who lost the only point for China on Friday against Thailand, will play Lee Jang Mi while Cao Tong Wei/Yu Zheng are set to play Chang Ye Na/Hye Rin Kim of Korea in the second women’s doubles match.

Should the China versus Korea tie go down to the wire Gao Fangjie of China will fight Korean player An Se Young for a final berth.

On the other hands, Japan and Indonesia will take on each other in another women’s semi-finals tie.
