Dubai: The No. 4 seed Malaysian badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei who had lost No. 1 seed Son Wan-Ho of Korea in the last Group A match at Hamdan Sports Complex on Friday, serving up revenge as he beat the Korean in straight sets to make his 5th BWF Super Series final.

Lee’s aggressive approach combined with tenacious defence paid off when he came from 1-4 to take the lead at 14-9 and went on to win the first set 21-17.

The pumped-up 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 BWF Super Series Finals champion Lee was relishing the battle and his cross-court smashes had Son scrambling all over the court to eventually claim the second game 21-11.

Lee is set to take on reigning World Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark on Sunday.

The World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen sent a resounding message about his BWF Super Series Finals chances by swatting aside Shi Yuqi of China 21-12, 21-8 in just 41 minutes to reach his third consecutive final in Dubai.

In men’s doubles final, World No. 1 pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia will lock horns again with the reigning World Champion Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan of China for the fourth time this season on Sunday.
