Kuala Lumpur: Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan could face off in a French Open quarter-finals after both men were placed in the top half of the draw.

World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen also has been drawn into the same half as Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan, alongside Chen Long. Axelsen could meet Chen Long in the quarter-finals and will probably play either Lee Chong Wei or Lin Dan in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Son Wan-Ho, the second seed this year, will begin his campaign against Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark in the bottom half, while Kidambi Srikanth — who won two successive Superseries titles at Indonesia Open and Australian Open this year and was also drawn into the bottom half, faces an eye-catching matchup with Rajiv Ouseph of England in the first round.

In men’s doubles, former world junior doubles champion Teo Ee Yi of Malaysia who was eyeing a quarter-final berth with new his partner Goh V Shem at the French Open, will kick off their opener against Or Chin Chung/Tang Chun Man of Hong Kong. While another new Malaysian scratch partnerships of Ong Yew Sin/Tan Wee Kiong will meet Jones Ralfy Jansen/Josche Zurwonne of Germany in the first round.

World No. 1 women’s singles player Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan and the 2017 Japan Open champion Carolina Marin of Spain are in the same half as No. 8 seed Ratchanok Intanon and No. 7 seed He Bingjiao in the women’s draw, while second seed P.V Sindhu, No. 3 seed Sung Ji Hyun and No. 5 seed Akane Yamaguchi have been drawn into the bottom half of the French Open draw.
