Chengdu: The Chinese badminton team has stayed in Chengdu, in Sichuan province of China for their 1-month closed training to prepare for the 2017 BWF World Championships that will be held August 21–27 at Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
Last week, 5-time world champion and all players from the Chinese national men’s and women’s team got some time to relax where they visited two military bases in Sichuan province.
They first visited China’s former National Defense Science and Technology Commission Ninth Institute also known as ‘two bombs city’ located in Zitong County. It was the headquarters of China’s nuclear weapons research center. They then visited Chengdu Aircraft Industry that developed J-10 (Jian 10 or Fighter 10) – China’s indigenously built multirole fighter aircraft.
Besides having fun and relaxation, more importantly, visiting those military bases helped instill core values such as patriotism, discipline, and fighting spirit in Chinese badminton players. After experienced the outstanding service and exceptional achievements accomplished by China’s previous generation, the Chinese Badminton Association was hoping its players could have courageous, fearless display in Glasgow in their quest for the World Championships glory.
