Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton legend Misbun Sidek who left the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in 2011 after a bitter feud with BAM’s management, has returned to help materialize Lee Chong Wei’s dream of becoming the World Champion.

Misbun said Lee Chong Wei played an important role of persuading him to return to BAM.

“Chong Wei visited me several times to ask me to rejoin BAM. I could see he really needed my help.”

“I considered Chong Wei like my own son. When the child asks for help, the parents are bound to help.”

“He visited me about seven or eight times … his perseverance and determination, along with the fact that he needed someone to help him advance to the next level of his career, made me accepted that coaching position.”

“Although I’ve left BAM since 2011, but I’ve followed closely on Chong Wei’s development.”

“I am aware that he still practicing the skills I taught him.”

“In 2011, I was told to give ways to others that could do better than me, and two Olympics have passed, things remained the same.”

“May be Chong Wei wants me back because he would like to have a sense of completion in his career, and would like to end his career with me?”

Misbun Sidek also provided a heads-up as an early warning to other Malaysian young players to get ready for his training method which he will implement soon.
